NDSEG Fellowship Applications Due January 4

Applications for 2010 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowships are due 4 January 2010.

Administered by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), NDSEG Fellowships aim to increase the number of US citizens and nationals trained in science and engineering fields of military importance. The US Department of Defense (DOD) plans to award approximately 200 new three-year graduate fellowships in April 2010, subject to the availability of funds, to individuals who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for advanced training in science and engineering.

Fellowships include stipends starting at $30,500, full tuition and fees and a health insurance allowance over three years. There is no military service obligation involved.

Applicants must be:

(1) US citizens or nationals.

(2) At or near the beginning of pursuing a doctoral degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering; Biosciences; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry; Civil Engineering; Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences; Computer and Computational Sciences; Electrical Engineering; Geosciences; Materials Science and Engineering; Mathematics; Mechanical Engineering; Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering; Oceanography; and Physics.

(3) Enrolled full-time as a graduate student at a US institution of higher learning.
